Max Dohmann is a tenured professor at RWTH Aachen University in Germany and a senior expert and leading figure in the field of water environmental protection both in Germany and internationally. He has held various prestigious positions, including Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Executive Council Member of the International Association on Water Quality (IAWQ) and the International Water Association (IWA), Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering at RWTH Aachen University, Member of the board of the Institute for Water Quality and Quantity Management in Essen, Managing Director of the Institute for Water and Climate Future at RWTH Aachen University, Member of the Board of the German Water Resources, Sewage and Waste Management Association, Managing Director of the Institute for Sewage Technology Appraisal and Development at RWTH Aachen University, and Chairman of the "Water Management Initiative" in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Professor Dohmann served as an advisor to the German Federal Government's Advisory Council on the Environment from 2000 to 2004. In 2006, he was awarded the "Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, First Class" by the German Federal President for his outstanding contributions in the field of environmental protection technology research and application, as well as for promoting Sino-German environmental cooperation. In 2014 he was awarded the Max-Prüss-Medal of German Association for Water Management, Wastewater and Waste.
